Rhode Island Small Business Development Center: Helping Local Businesses Grow
For Rhode Islanders thinking about starting a business—or trying to grow an existing one—the Rhode Island Small Business Development Center (RISBDC) offers an important source of guidance and practical support.
Based at the University of Rhode Island and part of the nationwide Small Business Development Center network, the RISBDC provides no-cost, confidential one-on-one business counseling to entrepreneurs throughout the state.
Its advisors can assist business owners with many of the challenges involved in starting and operating a company, including business planning, financial statements, loan applications, licenses and permits, marketing, branding and strategic planning. Assistance is available for both new entrepreneurs and established businesses looking to expand or enter new markets.
The organization also offers educational programs and webinars, including its Start-Up Foundations resources for people who are still developing their business ideas. Spanish-language business counseling is available as well.
Small businesses play an important role in Rhode Island’s communities and economy. For entrepreneurs who may not know where to begin—or who simply need experienced guidance—the RISBDC provides access to professional advice and resources without the expense of hiring a private consultant.
Business owners can learn more or request counseling through the Rhode Island SBDC at the University of Rhode Island.
