RI Grown Week Highlights Nearly $16 Million for Agriculture
Working nurses who graduated from the Community College of Rhode Island have a new pathway to earn a bachelor’s degree through the University of Rhode Island without leaving their jobs.
The institutions formalized their partnership during an October 1 signing ceremony in Warwick. URI announced the agreement October 2 and updated its announcement October 5.
The fully online Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science program is designed to help CCRI nursing alumni continue their education while managing employment and family responsibilities. University officials say lower tuition and scholarship opportunities will help make the degree more accessible.
Eligible students may receive conditional admission to URI after completing their first full semester in CCRI’s nursing program. The arrangement establishes a clearer route from the community college’s nursing education into university study.
URI says the program’s 24 core credits can be completed in as little as 15 months. Courses use an accelerated, seven-week online format.
The university describes the curriculum as preparation for expanded responsibilities in clinical practice, community health, leadership and care coordination. Its program webpage also identifies opportunities for graduates interested in advanced study.
This is a degree-completion pathway for registered nurses; it does not provide initial professional licensure.
URI currently limits admission to U.S. citizens or permanent residents from Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York.
Nurses considering the program can review curriculum, admissions and fee information through URI’s College of Nursing. Questions about the online pathway may be directed to RNBSonline@uri.edu or 401-874-5303 before beginning an application.
