Nitro Bar’s Ives Street Café Adds a New East Side Coffee Stop

The Nitro Bar’s new Providence café is bringing its cold brew and seasonal drinks to Ives Street, adding a Rhode Island address to a business that began with a mobile coffee cart.

The shop at 134 Ives Street celebrated its grand opening October 1. WJAR reported a morning line stretching outside and said owners Audrey Finocchiaro and Sam Lancaster planned to donate that day’s profits to three food pantries in Providence, Pawtucket and Newport.

An October 2 Providence Journal report by Gail Ciampa, available through AOL, describes the location as the company’s largest café yet. The space includes a full kitchen, indoor waiting benches and outdoor seating, with pastries and items available to grab and go.

The fall menu includes maple sea salt, cinnamon roll and pumpkin spice latte options. Ciampa also reported apple cider from Jaswell’s Farm in Smithfield, giving the drinks list a connection to another Rhode Island business.

Food choices include breakfast sandwiches, bagels, avocado toast and ricotta toast. Customers looking beyond coffee can find matcha and other beverages, according to the Journal’s report.

WJAR traced the company’s beginnings to a cart built in a parent’s basement and pushed around Providence. Its report described students and neighbors among the customers visiting the new location.

The company’s website now lists two Providence cafés, on Ives Street and Broadway, plus Newport locations on Thames Street and Pond Avenue. Online ordering links are available for each.

For East Side customers, the opening adds a stop for breakfast, coffee and drinks.
