Seven-day fallback: latest selected reporting published October 9; announced opening October 8, 2026.

A Warwick community market is offering a way to stretch a grocery budget, pairing discounted shopping with a program providing free pantry essentials.

Ocean State Food Pantry opened October 8 at 211 Buttonwoods Avenue, according to Legacy Church’s pantry page. The church ministry is working with FeedRI to bring affordable groceries and household necessities to the West Bay community.

The distinction between its two services matters. The Market welcomes shoppers regardless of income or residence, with groceries advertised at approximately 60 to 70 percent below regular retail prices. The Pantry provides free staples, primarily for greater Warwick residents experiencing food insecurity.

The organizer says no income verification is required. Market proceeds help support the pantry, allowing purchases to contribute to the food assistance effort.

Shopping hours are limited: Thursdays from 5 to 7 p.m. and the third Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to noon. For October, that Saturday falls on October 17.

Selection depends on deliveries and donations. The official page lists packaged staples, dry goods, shelf stable proteins and milk, plus hygiene and household products. Fresh produce and frozen items may be available when supplies permit. Legacy Church

RINewsToday reported October 9 that the partnership draws on FeedRI’s experience operating Hope Market in Rumford. A dedication ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, October 25, at 1:30 p.m. rinewstoday.com

FeedRI says its wider food rescue work includes school pantries, deliveries to community organizations and Hope Market in Rumford. Its programs connect surplus food from industry partners with Rhode Islanders who need assistance.
