Stop & Shop Restores Online Grocery Services After Cybersecurity Disruption
Stop & Shop customers in Rhode Island can again use the supermarket chain’s website and mobile app after a cybersecurity-related outage interrupted several digital services.
The company said Tuesday its platforms returned online, restoring access to grocery delivery and pickup scheduling. During the disruption, shoppers reported losing convenient access to digital coupons, gas rewards and other online savings tools.
Stop & Shop’s parent company, Netherlands-based Ahold Delhaize, took systems offline after identifying what it described as a cybersecurity issue. Stores remained open during the outage, but the disruption showed how closely grocery shopping has become tied to digital tools. Many customers now depend on retailer apps to compare weekly specials, load coupons, monitor loyalty points and arrange pickup or delivery. When those systems fail, the effects can reach household food budgets as well as shopping routines.
Stop & Shop thanked customers for their patience and employees for their work during the recovery. The company said shoppers can once again make online delivery and pickup arrangements through its restored platforms.
Rhode Island has 25 Stop & Shop locations, according to the chain’s store directory, making the restoration relevant to customers across the state.
Anyone returning to the app or website should use the official Stop & Shop address, confirm that saved account information appears correctly and remain cautious about unexpected emails or messages referencing the outage. Customers with questions about coupons, rewards or previous orders should contact the company directly through verified support channels rather than links sent by unfamiliar sources.
