Travelers hoping to reach Newport by water have a limited window remaining: Seastreak’s seasonal Providence–Newport ferry service ends October 12.

The current fall timetable offers three daily departures from Providence, at 9:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Return trips leave Newport at 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Each crossing takes approximately 70 minutes.

A standard adult fare is $12 one way or $24 round trip, before the operator’s three percent booking fee. Reduced fares are available for children ages 3 through 12, seniors, passengers with disabilities and Medicare cardholders. Children ages 2 and younger travel free.

Providence passengers can use complimentary parking at the ferry terminal, located at 25 Portugal Parkway. A free shuttle connects the terminal with the train station, convention center and downtown.

The Newport terminal is at 39 America’s Cup Avenue, providing a waterfront arrival for a day of exploring the city.

Bicycles travel free with a reservation, although capacity is limited to 10 per departure.

The closing date matters for October planning. Newport’s Bowen’s Wharf Seafood Festival takes place October 17 and 18, after this ferry season concludes.

Passengers should reserve their crossings and review service alerts before leaving home for their departure.
